Overview:

  • In Cisco Meraki, the Network-wide Alert settings are designed to notify administrators about important events or changes in the network. These alerts can help you monitor the health, performance, and security of your Meraki network in real time
  • The alerting system allows you to be notified about various network issues or events, enabling faster responses and proactive network management

Network-wide Alerts

  • Network alerts and notifications are a crucial part of becoming a proactive network admin with the amount of network or device events that can occur
  • Meraki enables admins to set up network alerts via the Meraki Dashboard and the Meraki Mobile App
  • Network alerts can be configured by selecting the default recipients for selected alerts and by configuring additional recipients on a per-alert basis
  • Alert Recipient Options
    • All Network Admins (alerts sent to both full and read-only network admins but does not include organization admins)
    • Other Email Addresses (alerts sent to custom list of recipients)
  • Per Cisco, all network alerts will be sourced from the same email address and recommends admins and users to add 'alerts-noreply@meraki.com' as a trusted email source to avoid alerts being lost to a spam filter

Network-wide Alerts for Mobile

  • The Meraki mobile app for IOS and Android offers push notifications to app users for all notifications configured on the app
  • These settings can be configured in the app under 'Settings >> Notifications'
  • Mobile App Configuration Parameters
    • Allow Notifications
    • Receive Push Notifications
    • Default Recipients
    • Additional Recipients
  • Per Cisco, notification configurations set in the mobile app also affect notification configurations in the Meraki Dashboard web, and vice versa. However, mobile push notifications are configured per-device rather than network-wide, as mobile push notifications are a mobile app only feature
